Klinginsmith coming to Canberra

theme

A conference open to all Australian Rotarians, aimed at strengthening Rotary, and especially Rotary clubs, will be held in Canberra on August 21 and 22.

Rotary International President (2010-11) Ray Klinginsmith has confirmed his intention to attend, to meet and to address Australian Rotarians.

Rotary International Director Stuart Heal (2010-11) will convene the conference.

Rob Wylie (Rotary Coordinator) said “There were many requests for a follow up after the success of the 2008 Presidential Membership Conference, but this conference is not just about membership.”

“We want to take another step forward, looking at ways we can make Rotary clubs stronger and more effective. We will also look at how we can improve awareness of Rotary nationally and locally and focus our service efforts to give best outcomes to the communities we serve.”

Governors-elect of all Rotary Districts within Zone 8 have been contacted, and asked to encourage Rotarians from their Districts to attend.

Rotarians at club level are particularly invited, and are encouraged to bring along new Rotarians, as they can bring new ideas to Rotary.

A minimum number of speakers will introduce topics, and maximum time will be made available for facilitated discussion. Costs are to be kept to as low as possible to keep the conference affordable.

The venue will be the Hellenic Club in Woden, ACT. PDG Bob Greeney, of the Rotary Club of Belconnen, has accepted the role of Chair of the organising committee.
