Members of the Rotaract Club of St Ives, N.S.W., found how hectic a day at the hospital can be when they went to The Children’s Hospital, Westmead, to donate their fund raising. They also wanted to get an insight into how the oncology department works, specifically the areas of leukaemia research and treatment. Rotaractors were graciously shown around the wards by Nicola Mackay, the account manager at the hospital. They met some of the young patients. “We decided to try to raise money in a different way this year,” said Past President Evan Burrell. At Christmas, club members undertook the roles of Santa’s helpers in the Ku-Ring-Gai and Hornsby communities. * St. Ives Rotaractors will host an interest night at the Green Gate Hotel, Pacific Highway, Killara, N.S.W., on March14 from 7.30p.m. Contact is Evan Burrell on telephone 0404 061 981 or email eburrell@bigpond.net.au |
